James Sangma set for Rajya Sabha swearing-in

Shillong: James Sangma will take his oath on the first day of the upcoming Parliament session. The Rajya Sabha member-elect officially started his tenure on June 22. This ceremony serves as the final hurdle before he begins his duties.

His term began following the retirement of former member Dr WR Kharlukhi. Sangma met with the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance to celebrate his win. He thanked the coalition leaders for their backing.

Sangma promised to work with sincerity. He plans to act as a bridge between the state government and the Centre to push pending proposals forward. He told reporters, "I would work with sincerity while seeking their guidance on matters concerning Meghalaya."

The event included representatives from the UDP, BJP, HSPDP, and Independent MLAs. Sangma aims to boost coordination with New Delhi to secure the state's interests.
