James Sangma Postpones Rajya Sabha Nomination Filing

Shillong: The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance nominee for the Rajya Sabha, James P.K. Sangma, unexpectedly delayed his scheduled filing of nomination papers on Friday. The process is now expected to move forward on Monday at 11 am.

The postponement caused confusion among state leaders who had already gathered at the venue. Several legislators from the Garo Hills, alongside ministers from the National People’s Party and the BJP, arrived at the complex only to discover the change in plans. Many attendees were seen making phone calls to verify the shift in schedule.

Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer Malthus S. Sangma explained that the delay was due to pending paperwork. He stated, "The nomination filing had been deferred because certain documents were not yet ready."

The upcoming Rajya Sabha election is set for June 18. Candidates have until June 8 to submit their official nomination papers.
