Itanagar: Capital Police arrested 28-year-old Tai Saimon following a violent machete attack on a fellow auto driver near the Clock Tower in Itanagar. Authorities moved quickly after receiving a formal complaint on June 6 regarding the assault, which left the victim with serious injuries requiring medical care.
Officers launched a late-night operation to locate the suspect, who resides near the Legislative Assembly. Saimon now faces charges under Sections 109(II) and 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which cover attempted murder and the use of dangerous weapons to inflict grievous harm. Police classified the incident as a "brutal assault" that followed a physical altercation between the two drivers.
