Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Department and the Bicchu Gang Running Club joined forces to host a 10K mini marathon in Itanagar. More than 300 runners showed up to push their limits. Itanagar Capital Deputy Commissioner Toko Babu flagged off the pack at the State Banquet Hall. The race stretched across the city and finished at Indira Gandhi Park.
Toko Tab took gold in the men’s race. Chanu Kamchang grabbed silver and Nabam Tojun walked away with bronze. Bamang Kojum finished fourth and earned passes to the Orange Festival. Nedi Ngu secured the top spot for the women. Boron Binggap took second and Yabang Tal finished third. Meena Ragyor claimed fourth place.
The top three finishers in both groups received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 4,000. Officials handed out medals to the first 100 runners to cross the line. The event focused on fitness and showcasing the state as a prime spot for adventure tourism.
Deputy Commissioner Toko Babu addressed the crowd after the race. He pushed the participants to keep moving. He told India Today, "Encouraged young people to make running a regular part of their daily routine rather than limiting it to organised events." Babu also warned the youth to avoid drugs and alcohol to protect their future. Director of Tourism Rujjum Rakshap backed the initiative, noting that the state wants to build more ties between sports and local tourism.
