Agartala: A prestigious international seminar was held at the Sahitya Akademi Hall of Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala to commemorate the enduring literary legacy of Prof. Nongmaithem Tombi Singh. The event, jointly hosted by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura, and the Nongmaithem Foundation, drew a diverse assembly of writers, scholars, and poets from across India and neighboring nations to explore the professor's vital contributions to Manipuri cultural identity.

Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sansad President A. K. Sheram, serving as the chief guest, opened the proceedings by underscoring the necessity of safeguarding regional languages amidst the ongoing challenges of globalization. He highlighted Prof. Tombi Singh’s profound influence in maintaining the heritage of Manipuri communities, both within India and among the global diaspora. During the ceremony, the inaugural "Nongmaithem Tombi Ningsing Mana" award was bestowed upon noted literary figure Kshetrimayum Madhabi in recognition of her contributions to the field.

The seminar included a series of scholarly presentations featuring prominent voices such as L. Birmangal, W. Brimangal, Dr. Anuradha Nongmaithem, Kabrabam Dhiren, K. Birola from the Sahitya Akademi, and L. Mina. L. Birmangal reflected on the late scholar’s life, remembering him as a formative guiding force for emerging researchers and writers. The day concluded with a poignant poetry recitation session, where local poets shared works dedicated to the memory of the esteemed scholar, following a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.
