Agartala: The Indian government is set to launch the Land Port Management System on June 9 in New Delhi. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the digital platform, which aims to modernize the management of the country's land ports using advanced technology.
This initiative integrates operations across various ports into a single, digital system to enable real-time exchange of regulatory and logistics information. By introducing end-to-end processing for cargo and passengers, the platform simplifies tasks like slot booking, payments, tracking, and single-window clearances. Officials noted that the system is linked to national platforms such as ICEGATE and ULIP to ensure transparency and coordination. According to officials, the platform will lead to a "technology-driven and secure border ecosystem" under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Tripura stands to benefit significantly as part of this rollout, with the inauguration of new stakeholder accommodation facilities at the Srimantapur Land Port. These facilities are designed to support border security personnel, traders, and transport operators. The state maintains vital connectivity with Bangladesh through the Agartala, Srimantapur, and Sabroom land ports, all of which are expected to see improved efficiency as India works toward its long-term development goals.
