Shillong: The Income Tax Department teamed up with Don Bosco Technical School in Shillong to host Prarambh 2026, an outreach event designed to guide non-profit organisations through the Income Tax Act of 2025. Held on June 4, the session attracted approximately 200 representatives from various charitable trusts, societies, and religious groups.
Commissioner of Income Tax for Exemptions in Kolkata, Manish Kumar Jha, addressed the attendees regarding the necessity of staying current with reporting standards. He emphasised the importance of maintaining transparency, urging the organisations to stay updated on legislative changes and voluntary compliance. Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar, principal of Don Bosco Technical School, noted the importance of such initiatives in helping NPOs meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
Deputy Commissioner Govind Singh Yadav conducted a technical session focusing on mandatory registration procedures and specific compliance obligations required by the new law. The event also featured officials including Guwahati Income Tax Officer H. Joyo Singh and Shillong Income Tax Officer Ranjeet Kumar Thakur. The programme wrapped up with a question and answer segment, where participants clarified details regarding documentation and reporting processes.
