Guwahati: IIT Guwahati hosted a commemorative event on May 29 to mark the first anniversary of Operation SINDOOR. Organised by the institute's Diversity and Equality Cell in collaboration with the 21 Mountain Artillery Brigade, the program brought together students, researchers, and faculty to engage with military leadership.
Brigadier G.S. Grewal, Commander of the 21 Mountain Artillery Brigade, delivered the keynote lecture. He focused on strategic decision-making and the role of resilience in navigating a complex global landscape. During his address, he identified cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and satellite technology as the modern frontlines of national security.
Brigadier Grewal urged the academic community to remain vigilant and innovative. He noted that India’s security has improved significantly over the last thirty years, but emphasized that citizens, especially those in technology and entrepreneurship, must continue to contribute to the nation's defense. The event also featured a video tribute dedicated to the individuals who served during Operation SINDOOR.
Prof. Anil Saikia, Associate Dean of Administration, and Dilip Boro, head of the Diversity and Equality Cell, attended the ceremony. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, providing a forum for the community to discuss how educational institutions can actively support national development and leadership.
