Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam Advocates for Inclusive Growth at Purple Fest

Imphal: Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has called for a renewed commitment to the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Speaking at the Purple Fest 2026, hosted at Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School in the Bishnupur district, the minister emphasized that every individual possesses unique strengths that deserve recognition rather than exclusion.

The event was a collaborative effort involving the Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research in Odisha, the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development in Imphal. During his address, Konthoujam noted that while educational and social access has grown, more must be done to support the aspirations of differently-abled citizens. He stated, "The world is progressing rapidly and persons with disabilities should be active participants in this process of development."

Konthoujam concluded his remarks by urging the public to prioritize dignity and equality. He argued that when provided with the right opportunities, those living with disabilities can make significant contributions to the ongoing progress of society.
