Kohima: Hekani Jakhalu, the new Chairperson of the Dimapur District Planning and Development Board, took charge Wednesday. She pressed board members to ditch silos and embrace teamwork. Development requires coordination. The advisor told officials that serving in a commercial hub like Dimapur is a rare chance to make a real impact.
Addressing the monthly meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's office, she voiced her expectations for the coming year. "All members would work together under her chairmanship over the next year and contribute positively to the district's growth and progress."
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang welcomed the new board members. New arrivals include Dimapur Municipal Council CEO Ruzonyi Wideo and Senior Treasury Officer Matsung Aier. District Agriculture Officer Viwheto Thorie and Art and Culture Research Officer Nyuvisie Nyusou also joined the ranks.
The board pushed through several society registrations. The Dimapur Athletic Association, Rise and Lead Foundation, and Nagaland E-Sport Association got the green light. Officials kicked the Covenant Foundation registration to the next meeting. School upgrade requests for ITIKI School and Grace Fountain School were also pushed back.
Traffic congestion took center stage. DCP Traffic Meren Chenth presented a plan to clear the city streets. The board plans to send these traffic proposals to state authorities for urgent review.
