Kohima: Heavy rainfall hit Dimapur early Sunday morning, flooding numerous residential colonies and disrupting daily life for many residents. Zasivikho Zakiesato, president of the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation, reported that water submerged roads and entered houses across several areas. Affected locations included Medical Colony, Vilhume Colony, New Field Gate, the East Block of Burma Camp, Namgalong Colony, Ragailong Colony, SM Colony, and Grace Colony.
Despite the widespread inundation, local officials observed that the flooding was less severe than in previous years. Zakiesato credited recent maintenance efforts, including the desilting and clearing of clogged drains, for the improvement. These infrastructure upgrades allowed the water levels to recede significantly faster than normal, limiting property damage and the duration of the flooding in vulnerable parts of the city.
