Heavy Rain and Storms Forecast for Northeast India

Kohima: The India Meteorological Department issued a warning for heavy rain across the Northeast. Expect storms to hit the region starting June 29. The weather service expects fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura throughout the week.

Arunachal Pradesh faces widespread precipitation until July 2, followed by lighter, scattered showers for the remainder of the period. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will see heavy downpours until July 1. Assam and Meghalaya residents should brace for heavy rain beginning July 1 and lasting until July 3.

The agency also highlighted the risk of dangerous conditions. "Isolated thunderstorm and lightning likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during June 29-July 1," according to the IMD. Keep your umbrellas ready.
