Kohima: The India Meteorological Department expects a wet week ahead. Heavy to very heavy rainfall, measuring between 7 and 20 centimeters, will soak the Northeast region and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim starting June 24, 2026.
Forecasters track widespread rain across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura through June 29. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning will hit these same areas between June 24 and June 27. The weather will turn dangerous.
Specific alerts highlight isolated heavy rainfall for Arunachal Pradesh from June 26 to 29. Assam and Meghalaya face downpours on June 24 and 25, returning on June 28 and 29. The agency noted that "isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Assam & Meghalaya during June 26 & 27." Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can expect heavy precipitation during that same two day window.
