Guwahati: Hailakandi district officials sent a bulldozer to Dhaleswar Point in Panchgram on Monday, September 21. They tore down a gate and a boundary wall belonging to former MLA Nizam Uddin Choudhury. The operation targeted structures built on public land. Authorities acted after receiving reports of unauthorized occupation.
The site saw earlier activity on Saturday. MLA Dr Milan Das intervened to clear portions of the alleged encroachment before the administration returned to finish the job. Residents gathered to watch the demolition. The spectacle caused a stir throughout the area.
Local officials maintained their stance on the property dispute. Regarding the unauthorized occupation and construction, the administration stated the move came in connection with the "alleged unauthorised occupation and construction on government land." The structures no longer stand.
