Hailakandi MLA Probes Alleged Illegal Occupation of Government Land

Guwahati: A land dispute is boiling over in Hailakandi. Authorities are moving to reclaim a plot of government land allegedly held by a former member of the legislative assembly. Officials descended on the site recently to survey the property and verify its current use.

Local MLA Dr. Milon Das is leading the push to clear the title. He plans to scour government records to confirm who actually owns the dirt. Legal action remains on the table. Dr. Milon Das stated, "If allegations of unauthorised occupation of government land by any individual or institution are found to be true, action would be taken in accordance with the law."

The legislator suggested he would not hesitate to file an FIR if the probe confirms the squatting claims. Officials maintain that the final decision rests entirely on the paper trail and the ongoing administrative review. The investigation is drawing heavy attention across the district.
