Haflong Breaks Ground on Long-Delayed Water Project

Guwahati: Crews started work on the AMRUT 2.0 drinking water project in Haflong this week. The district administration cleared land in the Lodi area on Wednesday and Thursday, July 15 and 16. Workers need this space to build a new reservoir. The town has suffered through a severe water shortage for years.

This Centre-sponsored mission aims to fix the broken water supply network. Leaders laid the foundation stone before the last elections. Officials state the project will boost local infrastructure and public health. They view the land clearing as a necessary step for the schedule. The administration stated, "The reservoir is a key component of the project, and the land clearance was necessary to ensure timely execution of the works."

Residents back the move. They want a permanent end to the supply crisis. Locals now wait for the team to finish the job on time.
