GSUK Launches New Academic Award for Top Gorkha Student in Kohima

Kohima: The Gorkha Students' Union Kohima (GSUK) and the family of the late BK Das and Gangamani Rai Das are launching the Sudha Das Academic Excellence Award. The prize targets Gorkha girl students who top the 2026 HSLC examination in Kohima district.

Winners get a plaque and 50,000 rupees. The award is open to any Gorkha girl who sat for the Nagaland Board of School Education exams at a school within the district. Residency status does not matter. The committee determines the winner based on the highest score across all six subjects.

GSUK President Meghraj Lama stated that the "student need not necessarily be a Non-Naga indigenous Gorkha but must belong to the Gorkha community."

Eligible students with at least 80 percent aggregate marks should send their mark sheets to meghrajlama@gmail.com or WhatsApp 9612001207. Do not wait. The cutoff date is July 5, 2026. Submissions arriving after this date will face immediate rejection.
