Imphal: AMESCO, MNKL, and AMACSU issued a joint warning today. They want the Meitei people to strictly follow traditional customs and religious heritage. The groups claim these practices are a vital legacy from their ancestors.
The organizations are worried. Too many events now use the Meitei label while ignoring long-standing customary rules. These deviations threaten to wipe out the community's cultural identity. They risk misleading future generations who will not know the true way to perform ceremonies.
Every ritual matters. Births, marriages, deaths, and religious observances must follow established customary laws. Media Coordinator Deepu Wangkhem stated, "The objective was not confrontation but the protection of Meitei traditions and identity."
Change is coming. The groups intend to take action against anyone who deliberately violates cultural norms. They will rely on public support to enforce these rules. Organizers and event agencies should check with them before planning functions. Collective action is the only way to safeguard these traditions.
