Agartala: The state government gave the High Court a firm deadline. Officials promised to appoint a state commissioner for persons with disabilities within two months. This move follows ongoing pressure to fill the long-standing leadership void.

The court reviewed the state's plan during the latest hearing. Government counsel confirmed the timeline to resolve the staffing issue. The administration committed to the process under oath. "State commissioner for PwD to be appointed within 2-months, Govt tells HC," stated the official record.

This appointment aims to address the needs of the disabled community. The state must now act fast. Failure to meet this target could force further court intervention.
