Guwahati: Gauhati University held a two-day workshop for professors and researchers to build better online classes. The Department of Communication and Journalism hosted the event on June 30 and July 1. Twenty participants learned how to design, build, and run Massive Open Online Courses.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta opened the sessions as the chief guest. He urged teachers to adapt to new digital tools to widen student access to quality higher education. He said, "The workshop reflects Gauhati University's continued commitment to fostering innovation in higher education and promoting technology-enabled learning."
Experts led the training. Prof. Durgesh Tripathi from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Dr. Trisha D. Baruah of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University taught the group. They focused on digital teaching methods, instructional design, and how to keep students interested through a screen.
Department head Prof. Ankuran Dutta organized the event to give teachers the skills needed for online material. Participants spent their time on course planning, creating content, and setting up assessment tools. Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakoty handed out certificates on the final day to mark the end of the program.
