Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court will deliver its verdict on the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta today, May 29. The court order regarding his involvement in the Zubeen Garg death case is expected around 2 PM.

A Fast Track Court is also scheduled to hear bail applications for five other individuals today: Shekharjyoti Goswami, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipon Garg, Nandeshwar Borah, and Paresh Baishya. This legal activity follows the May 26 decision by a Fast Track Court to formally frame charges against all accused parties, effectively moving the case into the trial stage.

The charges were established based on a report provided by the Criminal Investigation Department. The court reviewed all evidence and documentation submitted by investigators before deciding to move forward. Along with Mahanta, charges were finalized against Siddhartha Sharma, Amritprabha Mahanta, Shekharjyoti Goswami, Sandipon Garg, Paresh Baishya, and Nandeshwar Borah.

Senior advocate Ziaur Kamar confirmed that the formal framing of charges has set the stage for upcoming trial proceedings. The court plans to begin recording witness statements starting on June 8.
