Guwahati: G. Ramesh Kumar officially took charge as the Chief General Manager of NABARD’s Assam Regional Office on June 22. He steps into the role with three decades of industry experience tucked under his belt.
Kumar holds a postgraduate degree in agronomy and carries a certification from the Indian Institute of Bankers. He also holds credentials in high-tech fields including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and fintech. He is ready to apply these skills to the state's rural economy.
Before moving to Guwahati, Kumar spent four years running NABARD’s business operations. He previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for NABSAMRUDDHI Finance and worked as a Vice President for the consultancy branch, NABCONS. His background covers corporate debt financing, credit planning, and the development of rural infrastructure.
He has deep experience with climate-resilient farming and credit support for self-help groups and farmer organizations. According to the bank, his career history includes initiatives related to "climate-resilient natural resource management, energy projects and credit linkage for Joint Liability Groups, Self-Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations and micro-credit federations."
