Kohima: A group of friends released the music video for Chungliyimti on July 26. The launch happened at the Christian Community Fellowship Hall, Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo. Rev Dr Ponen Longchar, senior pastor of the church, debuted the video alongside the family of the late singer and songwriter Ponen Longkumer. He died in 2021.
Longkumer wrote and composed the track in 2020. The song remained unheard for years after his passing. His friends decided to record and produce the work to keep his vision alive. They wanted to promote the village of Chungliyimti and teach younger generations about their roots. The lyrics focus on the ancestral home of the Ao people and the struggles of their forebears.
Changsen Pongen performed the song alongside Kikum Longkumer, Nungsangmanen Aier, and Imtilepten. Pastor Nungsangmanen Aier of the Guwahati Ao Baptist Church pushed the group to record the project. After securing permission from the family, they filmed on location at Chungliyimti. Pongen said the project serves to carry forward the composer's legacy. He stated, "The music video was shot at Chungliyimti proper, fulfilling the wish of his late friend and composer."
Temsuyanger of Temz Records handled the recording. Videographers Jutichang Pongen and Moakumzuk Pongen captured the footage. Lanurenba Imchen managed the production and special effects. Alcoholics Anonymous MTBA and other supporters also contributed. The video is now available for viewing on the Changsen Pongen YouTube channel.
