Four injured after speeding car with press sticker causes head-on crash in Ri-Bhoi

Shillong: A head-on collision occurred on Friday evening at Jyntru in the Ri-Bhoi district, leaving four people with minor injuries. The accident involved a Hyundai Grand i10, which displayed a press sticker, and a Tata Nexon.

Witness reports indicate the Hyundai was traveling toward Shillong between 4:30 pm and 5 pm when it veered into the opposite lane. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding, resulting in a direct impact with the Guwahati-bound Nexon. Both vehicles sustained significant damage from the crash.

Following the collision, the driver of the Hyundai fled the area. A passenger inside the Hyundai, who claimed to be asleep when the incident occurred, later told reporters, "The car belongs to his father and he was asleep when the crash happened."

Medical assistance was required for one passenger in the Hyundai and all three occupants of the Tata Nexon. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the sudden departure of the Hyundai driver from the scene.
