Kohima: Vipopal Kintso, a former Janata Dal (United) candidate and ex-president of the Naga Students’ Federation, joined the Naga People’s Front on May 29. Kintso, who ran for office in the 2023 General Election for the Southern Angami-II Assembly Constituency, transitioned to the NPF alongside a group of his supporters at a reception held at the party’s central office in Dimapur.

NPF secretary general Achumbemo Kikon welcomed Kintso, highlighting his experience in civil society and his potential to contribute to the party's mission. Kikon emphasized that the NPF serves as a disciplined regional platform dedicated to protecting Naga identity and interests, rather than functioning solely as an electoral vehicle. He urged new members to work unconditionally for the betterment of the community.

During the event, Kintso described his move as a homecoming and expressed his intent to support the broader regional cause. He praised the leadership of NPF president and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his efforts to unify the regional political landscape. Kintso affirmed his dedication to working with veteran regionalist leaders to advance the party's objectives.

The welcome ceremony also featured remarks from NPF vice presidents Theyiekielie Tachü, Prasielie Pienyü, and Guoneiu Sirie. They encouraged young leaders to join the NPF to help carry forward the long-standing aspirations of the Naga people.
