Guwahati: Forest officials cornered a wanted man inside the core zone of Raimona National Park on July 12. A patrol team from the Janagaon Beat intercepted a group caught fishing illegally between Compartment Nos. 6 and 7 of the Sanfan Range.

Officers hauled in Ramal Goyary, a resident of Bwrimakha FRA Village in Kokrajhar district. While Goyary fell into custody, his associates scrambled into the dense brush and remain on the run. The department launched an immediate search operation to track down the fugitives.

Goyary was already on the radar for a 2024 wildlife crime case. He had been dodging authorities since a poaching incident two years back. Officials confirmed he now faces charges for both the fresh unauthorized entry and the prior outstanding warrant.

The Forest Department issued a firm warning to anyone threatening the local ecosystem. "Strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in poaching, illegal fishing, or unauthorised entry into protected forest areas." Goyary stays in forest custody while the legal process grinds forward.
