Flash Floods Devastate Arunachal Pradesh Districts

Itanagar: Flash floods and relentless rain are tearing through Arunachal Pradesh. Vast stretches of paddy fields in Lower Siang are underwater. Farmers are losing their crops. Road connectivity is taking a massive hit as floodwaters swallow major highways.

National Highway-415 is submerged at Leku and Rani village. Transport is grinding to a halt. In East Siang, the destruction is widespread. The link road to the Jawaharlal Nehru College upper campus is broken. Floodwaters from Sile and Sibo Korong inundated homes and businesses in Pasighat. The overflowing Besong Korong has left a path of ruin through Taki Lalung and Bogong-I.

Critical landmarks took a beating. The historic Runne Church sustained heavy damage, and the bridge over Letong Korong is compromised. At Ledum village, the Dengkam Stream destroyed multiple houses. Families are displaced.

Emergency teams are working in tough conditions. The Indian Army managed to pull one person to safety in Oyan. Authorities have issued a stern warning for the public. "Avoid all non-essential travel and venture out only in cases of emergency or urgent medical requirements," the district administration stated. Residents must remain alert as the situation evolves.
