Guwahati: Nagaon Police detained five men following a routine vehicle inspection that uncovered a collection of tools likely intended for criminal activity. Officers intercepted a white Maruti Alto near the Borghat bypass late at night after receiving a specific tip regarding the vehicle.
During a search conducted in front of local witnesses, police discovered a hydraulic iron cutter, a machete, various iron rods, a hacksaw, face masks, and rope. These items, along with two black helmets, suggest the group intended to commit dacoity or burglary in the Nagaon area.
The suspects were identified as Md. Sahidul Islam, Md. Narjul Islam, Md. Faizul Haque, Md. Ismail Ali, and Md. Abdul Khalil, all residents of Doboka. Following their arrest, the men were transported to the Borghat Police Outpost for questioning.
Authorities are continuing their interrogation of the five suspects. Investigators are working to determine the group's precise plans and whether they have connections to other ongoing criminal cases.
