Fire Destroys Four Shops in Assam Market

Guwahati: A fire ripped through a market in Assam's Golaghat district early Friday. The blaze broke out at 1 am in Bokakhat. It burned through four shops and caused property damage totaling roughly Rs 70 lakh.

The fire destroyed a garage, a computer shop, a salon, and a hotel. Inside the garage, 15 motorcycles were lost to the flames. Firefighters and local residents battled the fire until it was under control.

Residents cut the electricity supply to keep the fire from spreading to other shops. Police said the cause of the fire remains unknown. An official stated, "The cause of the fire has not yet been determined."
