Federal Team Inspects Flood Destruction in Assam District

Guwahati: A central government team touched down in Assam’s Bajali district on July 11. Their mission was simple: survey the wreckage left by recent floods and check the effectiveness of local relief efforts. The Inter-Ministerial Central Team traveled directly to the hardest-hit zones to inspect the damage firsthand. They walked the ground at Muguria, where an embankment breached, and studied the shredded remains of the Hathinapur-Rajakhat-Barsimla road.

The team also visited the flooded communities in Bagana to get a clearer picture of the crisis. These findings will dictate how much federal cash flows into the district for long-term repairs. The Assam government framed the visit as proof of a firm federal commitment to the state. As the government stated, the high-level visit "reflects the Centre's commitment to supporting the state's recovery efforts and restoring normalcy in flood-hit areas."

District officials managed the visit alongside representatives from the Chief Minister’s Office and the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. Cabinet Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass and MLA Dharmeswar Roy were also on hand to guide the tour. The data gathered during this inspection now heads back to Delhi for review.
