Federal Government of Nagaland Issues Warning Against Armed Groups

Kohima: The Federal Government of Nagaland has issued a formal notification condemning the activities of armed groups operating in the southern sector and surrounding regions. The Ministry of Rali Wali described these groups as terrorists, stating that their actions have reached an unacceptable level and represent a direct threat to peace.

Officials clarified the legal standing of residents within the region. According to the constitution of Nagaland, known as the Yehzabo, anyone of Naga descent is considered a legitimate citizen. The government also extended this recognition to the Kuki Tribal Union and other non-Nagas who live peacefully alongside the Naga people.

The government emphasized that it recognizes only the mandated Naga National Council and its own administration. It labeled illegal immigrants and armed agitators as adversaries to both local citizens and neighboring communities. Urging a collective response, the government called on all Nagas to set aside regional differences and unite to defend their ancestral lands against those disrupting public safety.
