Fed-Up Nagas shift protest rally to Agri Expo over security fears

Kohima: The protest group Fed-Up Nagas moved their upcoming rally to the Agri Expo site at 4th Mile, Chümoukedima. The event now starts at 1 p.m. this Saturday. Committee member Kuhoto Naga pointed to security concerns as the primary reason for the venue change. The rally was originally set for the Super Market area.

Organizers expect leaders from the NSCN (I-M) and the Working Committee of the NNPGs to speak. N. Kitovi Zhimomi and Alezo Venuh are on the list of speakers. The group spent months pushing for the government to act on old agreements with the Naga people. They want the public to understand where those deals stand.

Kuhoto insisted the movement stays non-political. He asked citizens to give two hours for the sake of the region. "We are not representing any political party. We are here as individuals, as Nagas, raising our voice for our survival and future," he said.

Member Hiketo Naga noted that the group has no corporate funding. They rely on small contributions from the public. He urged attendees to bring their own water and umbrellas for the event. Organizers want everyone to show up regardless of whether they received a formal invite. They claim the fight for a political solution is the only way to save the youth from unemployment and continued instability.
