Guwahati: A woman from Kokrajhar is facing serious accusations after her husband died from suspected poisoning. The deceased, Rakesh Brahma of Maibong Nagar, passed away on Wednesday while receiving care at Health City Hospital in Guwahati.

The family claims Brahma fell critically ill after consuming food that his wife, Sayoni Pal Brahma, had poisoned. He was transferred through multiple medical facilities, starting at MRM Hospital in Kokrajhar and then moving to Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon, before his final referral to Guwahati as his health declined.

Brahma’s mother, Parbati Brahma, asserts that she contacted the Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station to report the situation before her son died. She stated, "I had earlier lodged a complaint at Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station seeking intervention and justice following the alleged incident." Despite these efforts, the family maintains that authorities failed to take action against the accused.

Relatives suggest the motive behind the alleged act was the wife’s suspicion that her husband was involved in an extramarital affair. While the death has sparked local outcry, officials have not yet verified these claims as the investigation continues.
