Imphal: District election authorities in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Tengnoupal are currently consulting with political parties to rationalize polling stations. This process falls under the third phase of the 2026 Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls and follows official directives from the Election Commission of India.
In Imphal West, the District Election Officer led a meeting with political representatives and registration officers to review proposals for shifting, merging, or renaming polling locations. Officials emphasized that this work must conclude by June 28, 2026, to meet the regulatory timeline.
A parallel consultation took place in Imphal East under the leadership of District Election Officer Dr. Nivedita Lairenlakpam. Discussions focused on specific changes across six assembly constituencies. According to election officials, "representatives of political parties unanimously consented to the proposed changes without raising objections." These plans are now awaiting final review by the Election Commission of India.
Separately, the District Election Officer for Tengnoupal submitted the draft list for the 42-Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency to the Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur. These collective efforts aim to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the electoral process for future polling.
