Aizawl: Election Commission of India Deputy Director Apurva Kumar Singh arrived in Mizoram on Wednesday to oversee preparations for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. His visit aims to bolster public outreach efforts and ensure the accuracy of the state voting lists.

Singh met with Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer Garima Gupta at the Aizawl office before leading a media and communication training session for District Media Nodal Officers at the MINECO Secretariat. During the session, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Ethel Rothangpuii emphasized the vital role these officers play in the success of the revision process.

The training centered on effective communication strategies, managing implementation challenges, and increasing public participation. Singh introduced the official Media and Communication Standard Operating Procedure, explaining how to properly disseminate information to the public. He noted that the primary goal of the revision is to include all eligible citizens aged 18 and older while ensuring ineligible individuals are excluded.

Singh plans to continue his assessment on Thursday with a visit to an Electoral Registration Officer office. He will observe the distribution of enumeration forms by Booth Level Officers to verify that procedures are being followed correctly in the field.
