Itanagar: Doctors in East Siang launched an urgent campaign against cervical cancer on Wednesday. They met at Indira Gandhi Government Higher Secondary School in Pasighat to talk about HPV vaccination. The session coincided with National Doctors Day. It aimed to clear up myths and highlight how shots save lives.
District Medical Officer Dr. Yagling Perme and other experts spoke to students and staff. They pushed for early vaccination, specifically for girls aged 14 to 15. The team addressed safety concerns and explained the long-term health perks of the jab. Students grilled the experts on infection risks and how to stay healthy.
The medical team said this work is part of a bigger plan to improve community health through education. They want parents to make smart choices. After the event, Dr. Yagling Perme and District Reproductive and Child Health Officer Dr. Nidak Angu stood firm on the importance of these public health efforts. They stated, "Awareness and vaccination remain among the most effective measures in reducing the burden of cervical cancer."
You can get the vaccine now. Services are open at Bakin Pertin General Hospital in Pasighat. Other clinics across the district also provide the shots. Doctors urged locals to show up and get protected.
