Guwahati: Biju Kutum died instantly Saturday morning. A massive landslide buried his dumper truck near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The 45-year-old driver from Milanjyoti village was operating his vehicle, registered as AR01 P 4685, at an earth-cutting site near NH-15 in Banderdewa. A heavy shift of red soil and debris slammed into the truck, crushing it beneath the weight of the hill.

Authorities confirmed the crash happened on the Arunachal side of the line. This specific stretch of the interstate boundary remains a volatile spot for heavy equipment. Local reports suggest that reckless hill-cutting operations continue to plague the area. Frequent landslides here often choke NH-15 traffic, proving that dangerous conditions remain the norm. Officials noted that the tragedy has "once again drawn attention to the risks associated with hill-cutting activities in the Banderdewa area."
