Agartala: DONER Ministry Secretary Srinivas Katikithala toured North Tripura on Thursday. He went to Kadamtala to inspect agar plantations and study current processing methods. Katikithala started his visit at Mamon Enterprise in North Phulbari village. He watched workers process agar oil and wood chips.
Anfor Ali, secretary of the All Tripura Agar Association, met with the official. He showcased various manufactured goods and explained trade operations. The association laid out three demands for the ministry. They asked for low-interest loans of Rs 25 lakh and better training for the workforce. Katikithala said he would discuss measures with the government to ensure that agar traders could conduct their business in a smooth and streamlined manner.
The secretary also walked through the Kadamtala agar market. Local traders noted that their product draws buyers from across the country and international hubs like Bangkok and Dubai. Senior representatives from the district administration and the Forest Department joined the tour to observe the local economy.
