Kohima: The Sargam Cultural Association joined forces with the North East Zone Cultural Centre, under the Ministry of Culture, to host Rabindra Utsav 2026 in Dimapur on June 14. The event, held at the Durga Mandir Auditorium, opened with a rendition of the National Song before moving into a keynote address by Advocate Mahavir Jain, who serves as the advisor to the association.
A major highlight of the day was an art competition that saw 160 students compete across three age groups. The winners in Group A included Girikbe Langthasa, Yanshika Pradhan, and Subham Paul. Group B saw Leevika Debnath, Shana Ghosh, and Smiti Debnath take the top spots, while Dilipdi Jigdung, Sudip Biswas, and Deepshika Bhattacharjee earned top honors in Group C. Consolation prizes were also presented to several other talented artists.
A panel consisting of Rajive Dey, Kamal Das, and Manjit Mukherjee judged the entries. According to the organisers, the event was well-attended, featuring guests like Pankaj Sinha of Vidya Bharati, Dimapur. The programme was compered by Pampi Sarkar and Srabanee Acharjee, with Kamal Acharjee credited for the "concept and direction" of the cultural gathering.
