Kohima: The Gandhi Shilp Bazar opened its doors in Dimapur on June 3, bringing together 40 skilled weavers and artisans from Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Located at Urban Haat, the exhibition runs through June 9 and highlights a wide variety of regional handloom and handicraft items.
Er. Y. Lipongse Thongtsar, the Managing Director of the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., officially inaugurated the event. The corporation organized the showcase with sponsorship from the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts under the Union Ministry of Textiles.
The event aims to boost the economic standing of local creators by providing better access to domestic and international markets. Organizers hope the bazar will establish stronger trade links and ensure sustainable growth for the handloom and handicraft industries in the region.
