Kohima: The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) issued a public appeal on June 13 calling for the immediate repair of several deteriorating roads across Dimapur and Niuland. The committee highlighted that the poor state of the local infrastructure has caused significant hardship for students, commuters, and business owners.
Specifically, the DDCC pointed to the road stretch between Purana Bazaar and the Supermarket. Despite recent development efforts, the road is now covered in potholes and uneven surfaces. The committee questioned the quality of the workmanship and the handling of public funds allocated for the project. Similar concerns were raised regarding the road leading to the new Deputy Commissioner Office in Purana Bazaar, which remains in disrepair despite its status as a vital administrative route.
The DDCC also criticized the condition of the recently constructed Niuland Road, which has already developed severe damage. Calling for swift action, the group urged the Public Works Department and local administration to launch inspections and perform necessary restorations. The committee stated, "The people of Dimapur and Niuland deserve safe, durable and quality road infrastructure." Beyond immediate repairs, the DDCC requested a formal investigation into construction quality and demanded accountability from contractors responsible for substandard work.
