Kohima: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry lashed out Saturday against a wave of vandalism and illegal tax demands targeting local merchants. Business owners in Dimapur are facing intimidation from groups making unauthorized monetary grabs. This has to stop.
DCCI officials insist that nobody has the right to act as judge and jury. The organization stated, "Any allegation or suspicion of unlawful activity must be addressed strictly through the due process of law by the competent authorities."
The Chamber is now leaning on the District Administration and the Commissioner of Police to launch a hard-hitting investigation. They promised total cooperation to ensure the perpetrators face the consequences. Legal channels remain the only acceptable way to settle disputes.
Leadership warned all business members to ignore demands for cash unless they come with proper verification. Don't pay up. Report any suspicious summons to the police or the Chamber office immediately to avoid falling for coercion. Protecting the local economy remains the top priority.
