Guwahati: Dhubri police arrested a local deed writer on July 7 for running a massive forgery scheme. Md Ali Jinna, also known as Bhuttu, allegedly faked signatures and official documents for land sales and leases. He operated out of the Sub-Registrar office in the Dhubri district.

Jinna targeted people needing No Objection Certificates from the Dhubri Gauripur Development Authority. He pocketed the government fees instead of processing the paperwork. Police nabbed him in Gauripur following several formal complaints. Investigators are now tracking how much money he stole.

Authorities are looking for more victims as the case grows. Police said, "Investigators are now probing the extent of the alleged financial fraud and examining whether any other individuals or government insiders were involved in the operation." Officers expect more people to step forward as the investigation continues.
