Guwahati: Dhubri police locked up Md Ali Jinna on July 7 for running a forgery ring out of the local sub-registrar office. Jinna, a deed writer from Madhusoulmari Part-II, allegedly faked No Objection Certificates needed to sell or lease land. These permits are legally issued by the Dhubri Gauripur Development Authority.

Jinna faked signatures to fool applicants. He took their money and kept it for himself. Investigators say he pocketed the cash instead of paying mandatory government fees. Police acted fast after officials lodged complaints. They tracked the suspect to the Gauripur area and brought him in for questioning.

The investigation is now widening. Detectives are hunting for more victims and checking for inside help. Officials said Jinna "also known as Bhuttu" faces heavy scrutiny as they piece together his financial fraud. Expect more names to surface as the inquiry continues.
