Guwahati: Cops in Dhubri, Assam, hauled off a government school headmaster to jail this week. Shahjahan Hussain Sheikh faces serious charges of sexual assault and coercion. He allegedly forced a woman into an illicit relationship near his workplace, the 333 Sohrab Char Lower Primary School.
The woman reported the abuse to the A.M. Co Road Bazar Town Police Out Post. Authorities filed Case No. 253/2026 based on her statement. They moved fast. Police tracked down Sheikh at his home in Kachuwar Khas and took him into custody.
The accused stood before the Dhubri District Court on Thursday. Investigators are currently gathering evidence to build the case. A police official said, "the case was registered on the basis of the victim's statement and that a detailed investigation is in progress to ensure appropriate legal action."
