DESAM Shuts Down Bir Tikendrajit University Over Examination Fraud Allegations

Imphal: The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) shut down Bir Tikendrajit University in Canchipur today, citing a fraudulent LLB final-year examination process. The student organization claims the university violated regulatory procedures by holding the exams between May 25 and May 28.

DESAM leaders assert that the individuals who sat for the tests were not officially enrolled students. According to the student body, university officials including the Chancellor and Executive Director Birbal acknowledged that the institution did not authorize the exams. Reports indicate the university blamed a private agency for organizing the testing session on campus grounds without official approval.

The university failed to provide documentation to validate the exams when confronted by DESAM representatives. The student organization claims that senior leadership vacated the campus following the confrontation. Denouncing the incident as a major case of academic misconduct, DESAM is now calling for the university registration to be cancelled and for legal consequences for those involved.

This incident adds to national concerns regarding the integrity of legal education. The Supreme Court has previously issued warnings about the emergence of unqualified practitioners graduating from institutions that fail to meet strict regulatory and academic standards.
