Daylight Burglary in Dibrugarh Leaves Family Out Over 10 Lakh

Guwahati: Thieves hit a house in Khowang on Saturday, escaping with 10 lakh in cash and gold. The burglary happened in broad daylight. The home belongs to Bulanta Maut, who leads the local Citizens Committee.

Maut and his wife left at 11:40 a.m. to attend a funeral in a neighboring village. Burglars smashed the main door and forced open two steel almirahs inside. They cleaned out 50,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth roughly 10 lakh.

Neighbors spotted two strangers fleeing the property around 1:20 p.m. and alerted the family. Maut returned to find his home completely ransacked. Police arrived later to process the scene. They are now working to track the suspects. Official reports state: "Efforts are under way to identify the accused and recover the stolen property."
