Kohima: The 78 Battalion CRPF partnered with the Kohima Forest Division on June 1 to host a joint tree plantation drive in Chakhabama. Held under the theme Inspired by Nature – for climate, for our future, the event aimed to promote environmental stewardship and ecological restoration among local residents and security forces.
Participants planted various indigenous and ecologically significant saplings to boost local biodiversity and green cover. This initiative emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to combat environmental challenges and improve climate resilience in the region.
Assistant Commandant of the 78 Battalion CRPF, Vikram, and Kohima Range Forest Ranger, Khrielakuolie, addressed the attendees to discuss the vital role of individual and collective action in natural resource conservation. Beyond the planting effort, the program served to educate the community on the importance of afforestation.
The 78 Battalion CRPF, which has been stationed in Nagaland since 2007, continues to balance its primary mandate of maintaining law and order with active community engagement and environmental support projects.
