CPIM Protest Blocks Mandai Road Over Election Scrutiny

Agartala: Tension boiled over in Mandai Block on Wednesday. CPI(M) members launched a road blockade directly in front of the local block office. The protest ignited during the scheduled scrutiny phase of the upcoming Village Council elections.

CPI(M) leaders accused the administration of stacking the deck against them. They claimed that a massive crowd gathering outside the building effectively choked off access. Opposition candidates and independent hopefuls could not reach officials to complete the required nomination paper scrutiny.

Protesters stood their ground despite the presence of police and security personnel. They argued that authorities failed to maintain order or guarantee a fair process. The party claims officials ignored their repeated attempts to contact the Sub-Divisional Officer to resolve the gridlock. Left leaders insisted the administration must act to uphold democratic norms, stating, "the scrutiny stage must be conducted impartially to uphold democratic norms."

Frustrated supporters demanded immediate transparency. They refused to clear the road until the government ensured equal opportunity for every person on the ballot.
