Kohima: The Council of Naga Churches (CNC) has issued a nationwide call for prayer on October 18. This event, known as Naga National Prayer Day, falls on the third Sunday of October. Organizers want churches, mission centers, and Naga families everywhere to participate in the observation.
This year the group chose the theme: "come, and let us return unto the Lord" (Hosea 6:1). The tradition began following a 2018 summit at the Agri-Expo in Chümoukedima that drew 3,000 religious leaders. Members officially designated the date during the 2022 National Assembly held at GHQ, Hebron.
The CNC demands repentance for a long list of societal failures. Officials cited addiction, corruption, moral decline, and persistent violence as major threats to the Naga people. They specifically asked for prayers regarding personal pride, hatred, immorality, and bloodshed. Leaders also want public support for peace and the prosperity of the community.
Political stability remains a major focus of the request. The council asked for divine guidance for NSCN leadership and Indian officials as they work to finalize the Competencies and implement the Framework Agreement. Pastors and chaplains must lead the services, while all Nagas at home and abroad are encouraged to join the collective act of faith.
